Ubuntu 8.04: VMware Server 1.0.x installieren


Bevor Sie den VMware Server unter Ubuntu 8.04 installieren können, müssen Sie einige Pakete installieren, welche der VMware Server benötigt.

georg@ubuntu804:~$ sudo apt-get install xinetd libssl-dev

Sollten Sie ein 64bit System verwenden, müssen Sie zusätzlich das Paket ia32-libs installieren.

georg@ubuntu804:~$ sudo apt-get install xinetd libssl-dev ia32-libs

Nachdem alle benötigten Pakete installiert wurden, laden Sie sich die Sourcen des VMware Servers herunter.

georg@ubuntu804:~$ wget http://download3.vmware.com/software/vmserver/VMware-server-1.0.6-91891.tar.gz

Beachten Sie bitte, dass hier die Version 1.0.6 verwendet wird und möglicherweise bereits eine neuere Version zur Verfügung steht. Besuchen Sie deshalb http://www.vmware.com/ um die aktuelle Version des VMware Servers herunterzuladen und eine dazugehörige Seriennummer zu generieren.

Anschließend entpacken Sie das Archiv und wechseln in das Sourcen-Verzeichnis.

Starten Sie jetzt die Installation mit dem folgenden Befehl und folgen den Installationsanweisungen. Das folgende Listing zeigt die Installation auf einem 64bit System.

Nachdem die Installation erfolgreich beendet wurde, müssen Sie noch den folgenden Befehl aufrufen.

georg@ubuntu804:~/vmware-server-distrib$ sudo ln -sf /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 /usr/lib/vmware/lib/libgcc_s.so.1/libgcc_s.so.1

Jetzt können Sie über Anwendungen -> Systemwerkzeuge -> VMware Server Console die Steuerkonsole des VMware Servers starten.
